Plastisol resin is a thermoplastic polymer used to make soft plastic fishing lures. It has a melting point of 320F to 350F. Plastisol is a low toxicity material and can be re-melted and re-poured multiple times. Plastisol can be easily melted in a Pyrex glass container in a standard microwave over. Once poured lures harden in a matter of a few minutes. Plastisol starts as a milky white liquid similar in viscosity to water. As it is heated it begins to gel then thins out to a water clear liquid with the consistency of light syrup. Once the heated material cools it solidifies into what we are familiar with in soft plastic lures. We offer resins in both the liquid for and the heated solid form. Both are the same resin and will result in the same finished lures.
Fusion X Fishing offers over 400 colors of plastisol through X-Cubes and Plasti-X products. Pigment blends designed for use in liquid plastisol are available as the EfeX product. All colors can be mixed to create custom colors and effects. Please note that certain additives can also impact the color of the resin (scent, density modifiers, and special effect pigments)
We currently offer resin in 8 different scents.
X-FUSE is out standard scent and is a very productive scent without giving off any obnoxious odors during melting.

We offer plastisol in 6 different hardness/firmness levels. The medium formula is the most common and a good place to start. Please note that the harder the resin the more durable it becomes. Soft resin will give a lure more action and a more realistic feel, but will tear very easy and lures will not last as long. The downside to harder resin is that it is thicker in viscosity and does not pour as well. Softer resins can pour more like water and harder resins can pour more like molasses. Another note about hardness is that the softer the resin the more tacky it will feel after molding and will require more worm oil during bagging to reduce sticking. Softer resins may shrink more and may not be suitable for injection molding.
Density is the weight per volume of the plastisol. Density determines if the resin will sink or float and at what rate it will sink. Different density resins work to improve certain fishing techniques by changing how fast a lure sinks. Please note that all of the density modifiers will make the lures feel stiffer, change the color, and reduce tear strength of the lure.
FLOATING - Floating Resin will help a lure float on top of the water even when rigged with a hook. This is a good option for top water frog lures. Floating is only available in select colors since the additive is white and will create a milky effect in the final color.
SUPER FLOATER - Super floater resin has a small amount of additive to help the resin to float slightly. It is usually not enough additive for the lure to float when rigged. Super floater is great for slowing the fall of a lure. The floating additive will cause some milk appearance to the resin.
STANDARD - Standard resin has a neutral buoyancy. It is the best choice for most applications. All colors are designed using this formulation. We recommend this formula for most applications.
HEAVY - Heavy resin has a density modifier to help the lure sink faster. This is a big help with weightless stick baits and twitch baits.
X-HEAVY - This resin has a large amount of density modifier to help lures sink faster. This resin is only available in select colors since the additive changes the resin color.
Pricing of plastisol will vary with color, scent, hardness, and density. Standard products are those that are stocked and will be shipped the same or next day. Non-standard products are made to order and may take 5-10 days to ship.
Some colors of glitter may bleed into clear resin. Color, glitter, and pigments will impact the time to melt resin.
